I have never had any issue with their quality, as I deal in loads of their mandolins. All solid wood guitars for sometimes half the price of other more popular brands? Seems like a no-brainer. So, what I am trying to say, the specs on an Eastman are great. When he looked at the price tag and saw a $500.00 difference, he decided that the sound difference wasn't worth that difference in price, and I had to agree with him. When I let the customer play these guitars back to back, he favored the Taylor, but only slightly. For those who read this that know their Taylor guitars, they only make the 310ce now, just know this was over a year ago, and we don't always sell our guitars the minute we get them. Both having a sitka spruce top, the Eastman wearing solid mahogany back and sides and the Taylor flaunting African mahogany. There was a day where I had the Eastman E6D right next to a Taylor 310. I have never questioned or researched this, because I really just don't care. If you ever make a comment to a salesman for Eastman and mention this, they will have a small speech prepared that they probably have recited 100 times about how even though it is a Chinese factory, they have quality control and pay a decent wage, not sweatshop type stuff. Unlike the higher dollar Taylor or Martin guitars, Eastman will be Chinese made. That said, know what you are getting into. And let me say this, when you call it "bang for the buck," you hit the nail right on the head.
